This is the HAACK Rukket net. It is very easy to assemble. It might weight a tad to travel with it. Best to leave at home to set up either at back yard or garage. Check out other nets Rukket has to best suit your needs here. The brand offered me this link where you have a chance to win a free net + tri-turf matt to hit off from and 15% discount by entering the contest.

I felt the urge to write this blog post because the nets have been a total sensation. I have been using them for quite some time, but I don’t know why I didn’t show you guys before and more often. I have a Haack golf net in Bogota, Colombia and one in the US. I am a spoiled little brat I know, but I guess that is one of the perks of being an ambassador right?

I want to tell you how my partnership started. It all started because of something traumatic but it ended up showing me a new way of practicing — my injury. We all know injuries are no fun. They mess up with our routines, weight control and exercise maintenance, daily enjoyments and the one thing that I noticed drastically; mental setbacks. In my case, the injury played mental games with me since the begging. At first, when doctors couldn’t find the diagnosis and said it was all mental, a fabricated pain by the amount of stress and anxiety. Later on, after months of pain and despair, they found the main cause of lesion and by then, my body wasn’t able to regenerate tissue as fast as it should. The final phase, was when I started seeing the light through the tunnel. But mentally, I already solidified a structured web of anxiety and stressful thoughts that were playing a huge role in the way I was identifying myself. I was so eager to start hitting but yet I was afraid I lost all my golf feel. I was scared after such a long pause, I wasn’t going to be able to recruit all my senses back to be able to swing the golf club like I was swinging it before I got injured.

But like everything in life, those fabricated fears almost never come true, and my comeback was easier than expected. I believe I visualized my golf swing so much during my time off, that it made up for all that time I wasn’t able to grip a golf club .

Days before I was considered “good to go” to start hitting golf swings, I was mimicking the swing action in the gym, without a club. When doctors allowed me to start swinging, I was excited but scared in a way. I preffered to spend some time under surveillance and hitting indoors. But didn’t want to go through the hassle of finding an indoor golf facility, so I started doing some research on portable golf nets. You can say my instagram addiction is such, that I didn’t even have time to go on Google. The biggest social media platform to date was able to give me my answer right away. I saw some of my friends posting about this Rukket portable golf nets. As a matter of fact, I saw a post from Nikki B swinging in her backyard with the net and right away I knew that was something I needed ASAP.

These were my first swings at the gym under the supervision of my physical trainer and my physio.

My idea was to get a net like that one and set it up in my gym, where I could hit after my physical rehab having my physical trainer and physio monitoring my every move. Obviously I dont own the gym, so I needed something portable that I could assemble whenever I came in for my session.

So I reached out (with the help pf my agent). They were phenomenal to tell you the truth, not only for wanting to keep up with me (since I requested a net in the US and another one in Colombia during my rehab) but because their whole line of products are pretty sick and very useful for the all level golfer.

Rukket Sports sent me the Haack Golf Net with the weighted club (useful for warm ups) and the tri- turf matt to hit off from. You probably also saw me using a super fun chipping net that I use to travel with me. I love it! The nylon material makes it super easy not only to travel with but also to assemble and fold it bag into its travel bag. No kidding I brought it with me to Arizona for my pre season training. I knew I was going to stay at Giulia’s house so it would make for some good laughs!

This is the chipping net. So easy to travel with and assemble & disassemble.

I was asked often about the chipping net. It can definitely be seen as a fun practice tool you can have at home, your office or even for tailgates! (Yes, I remind you I went to USC so Trojans also know how to tailgate!). But I some times have used it late afternoon to work on mechanics, rhythm and also to help me meditate!

However, I will still give the MVP to the Haack Net. this net really helped me during my recovery session.

SWING CHANGES

How many times have your coach told you whenever you are making changes to your golf swing to not pay attention to the golf ball?

I was told that the most difficult swing changes were made indoors and without paying attention to what the ball did. My coach have told me repetitive times that before looking at the results, you must first instill the right moves into your body. That requires a lot of repetition and visualization. Yes, visualization!

When I couldn’t swing, I knew exactly what I had to work on with my coach. I got injured right after my first tournament of the year, so the swing changes were still very fresh in my mind. And I would think about them almost every night. I visualized myself swinging and feeling the changes on my swing many many times. And even if you think I am crazy, my friends, EVERYTHING COUNTS! When I came back, it felt like I never stopped playing. The swing changes came easier and smoother than before!

I don’t pretend for you guys to start to work on mindfulness and visualization. But I want you guys to at least get the point of what I am talking about. With the net, the work is similar to what I was doing over and over in my sleep. And not only that, but before I went to the actual driving range, I spent a lot of hours and days with the net and a mirror. I would mimic the golf swing with the appropriate changes over and over. And slowly started hitting balls. Not seeing where the ball goes is actually an advantage, because you awaken other senses of your body that are as equally important, and that normally you have them dormant.

WEATHER CHALLENGES

Another reason why I am a huge advocate for it is because it helped me drastically right after my injury and during my pre-season training in Arizona. I wasn’t encouraged to write this blog just to tell my story, I was actually motivated by you guys. I chose to have my pre season training in Scottsdale because of the weather. But even there we had days where we didn’t get a break. It has been years that I have going back and forth with you guy on Instagram Direct Messages and during this winter break all I could hear were lamentations on how poor the weather was at home and that you couldn’t practice. I never had that, because I always had the flexibility to chose where to live. So I never had to battle cold and raining winter seasons. After that it started to resonate with me that you guys could actually make a good use of it during the winter season.
